Default 01 CRV 0verheating

I picked up a 2001 Honda CRV this past March. Turned the AC late last week and I seemed to lose some power. Didn't think much of it since it was really windy that day. Then 2 days ago I drove 1 mile down the road and it started overheating with a flashing CEL.

It's been parked ever since. I changed the thermostat yesterday, along with the oil and a radiator flush. No antifreeze in the oil. I noticed that the radiator fans did not turn on during the 15 minutes I had it running with the radiator cap off after filling it up. The guy I got it from had recently replaced at least the spark plug wires, and I would imagine the spark plugs as well. It had been running great up until now.

I borrowed a code reader today and it gave me P0301 and P1399 (#10) codes. From reading other threads, it seems that's a cylinder 1 misfire and another misfire code. I'm not a mechanic, but I do like to work on my cars. Not sure where to go from here. Any help would be appreciated!

Pull the plugs and check them. make sure they are NGK's.

As far as the fans not coming on. I wouldn't worry about that. It takes quite a while for them to kick on in the B20. I thought mine were broken when i first got mine running because it seemed like it was getting hotter but they weren't coming on. it took quite some time at idle for them to come on. yet it wasn't that hot out.

i had it happen a couple times, first on a really cold blizzardy day which was weird. i think i burn coolant and its gets pretty low after a few months. maybe yours is something easy like that?

Yeah using the A/C kills the power in them. I only turn mine on once I get on the highway.

So how do I get them to power up again? I am pretty sure I had the temperature dial set on the highest heat. And just out of curiousity, why would the AC kill power to the fans?

Not the fans, the engine. Check fuses and then if you can power up just the fans from the connector.

Make sure your fans turn on
If you've waited and they dont i would fix those fans first

make sure they work first. run test leads to them from your battery. check their fuses.

My friend and I thought my fans were shot because it seemed like the car was at operating temp and they just wouldn't come on. it took me revving it around 3K for another minute or 2 after it was at normal temp for the fans to finally kick on.

Older hondas the fan will not normally turn on when stop. Mine never turned on in my integra for 30 minutes of letting it idle, I was like WTF, but as soon as I drove they came on, it's strange.
