Icon2 Engine starts and then dies, doesn't hold its own idle

A little background, it's a freshly assembled ls/vtec (b18a1 block, b18c1 head) with obx stage 2 cams (i think 266 intake, 264 exhaust), valvesprings, retainers, ported and polished, arp head studs, king bearings. has an oem gsr manifold gutted the butterflys and ported and polished, 1,000cc injectors, walbro fuel pump, chipped P28 on Crome tuning.

So I start my car and it won't idle, it will just start up and go to idle speed and then instantly die unless I give it gas then it runs until I stop giving it gas and keeping the revs up. I drove it around and it seem to drive okay, a little weird but maybe because I unplugged some vacuum lines to try to get it to idle up higher.

I have tried advancing the distributor, adjusted the valve lash, double checked the timing belt which is spot-on, FITV was previously deleted while it was stock LS, blocked off the IACV. None of which has really helped at all. the only thing that seemed to temporarily help was pulling a vacuum line and it would hold a idle. Unitl I started driving it around town then it wouldn't hold its idle with even all my vacuum lines unplugged Lol.

Im curious if this is something I can fix with tuning, I tried tuning the IAC compensation to -10% but it still didn't help, or if the only way I can get this thing to run is by adjusting the throttle body plate stop screw on the bottom.... I didn't really want to do it that ghetto way but if I have to then I guess that might be my only option?

First fix all the intentional vac leaks. Start it up, hold the throttle to maintain the engine. Tune the fuel to around 13AFR for warm up. Make sure ignition timing is 16-18* in the idle cells. Slowly release the throttle to test if the engine will maintain idle without throttle. If it stalls then the engine needs more air. Open the idle screw. Sometimes big cams need more idle air as they wont idle in high vac.

My best quess would be to set the Injector off-set voltage

What muckman said also need to be sure the idle is set peoperly with the throttleplate stop with the Iacv unplugged set rpm to 800 then plug it back in. Also is this car tund or basemapping it ?

Muckman and Turbo-LS probably have this one pegged. It's because of the aftermarket cams. They probably need the throttle plate adjusted if you can't get enough air in through the idle screw. I had to do it with the cams I got from Justin also.

The car sold, but I'm still kinda in the picture with it. The guy basically refers to me with any wrenching/tuning issues, and he wants me to drive it some at the track in the future. So that's really cool of him. :D I just haven't had a lot of time with an engagement about to happen and a wedding to plan for soon. It should get me by for a while until I can get another project though. Just not sure what that will be yet........

Well congrats on the engagement. Wedding planning was fun but that all depends on if the girl wants full control or shares lol

just to update this thread, I turned the idle stop screw on the bottom on the throttle body up a little and it idles fine. But I think it was because it was running so rich, I've been messing with the basemap in it via crome and when I use smaller injector sizes it idles a lot higher, too high now lol.
