hey everyone. I ran into a problem. I had a leaking distributor so i changed it and now i cant set my base timing.

Im running a boosted lsvtec (600+hp) car was running fine but my dizzy was leaking oil and i also bought a block off plate for the plug wire cap because im running hondata cpr (coil on plug retro fit) and it didnt fit with the old dizzy. the cap fit the new dizzy so i put it on. both are vtec dizzys and bolt to head fine. with the new one on i went into my hondata to the set timing tab to try and lock it at 16 degreese. with the dizzy all the way advanced i can only get the timing light to show 14 degreese where the old dizzy showed 16 degreese with it in the center position. whats up with that? now i dont know what the heck to do and fear of poping the motor lol. i also have to be at map proving ground in 2 days lol help.

 

What happens when you rotate the distributor when the timing is locked on the computer?

 

I have not tried this. ill try soon as I get home. what will this tell me

 

I have had this issue when using a non original Honda distributor. The remanufactured ones will not sync.
