HELP!! CAR OVERHEATING AGAIN!!
Hi guys, i have a 94 honda civic ex. Stock engine just has a short ram intake and a muffler.. I got this car about a year ago, and got it with a blown head gasket... i replaced the head gasket, but didnt resurface the head, i know i should have, but i didnt... after that, the car ran great, and recently starting pushing the coolant out the reservoir.. its boiling in there!! i replaced the radiator and it still did it, then i replaced the water pump, and thermostat... it stopped doing it... i took the car for a long drive on the freeway and noticed the temp gauge going up.. i was able to make it to the nearest gas station without crossing the the white line at the top.. i popped the hood and saw all the water leaking from the reservoir again and it was boiling and steaming... i waited for it to cool down and then opened the radiator cap and filled it up so i could take it back home, on the way back home, about an hour after driving it did it again!! so i did the same and managed to make it home.. i drove it around town a few days again for about 20 min and did the same thing!!! What could it be!?
head is probably warped instead of going and getting it re surfaced you should have had the block AND head checked first then see if/which one needed work.
This sounds like a classic head gasket leak where the exhaust is blowing into your coolant system. You wont see it on compression tests. Start the car with a cold engine the take your radiator cap off. Look for little bubbles. If you see them, it's almost certainly your HG.
Well i found out the problem was that the radiator fan got stuck and wasnt working and blew the fuse.. so we replaced the fuse and now the radiator fan works, took it for a drive up a mountain to see if it would overheat under load and ran like a champ, didnt overheat going up or on the way back home... i started the car with the radiator cap off to put more water and did notice there were some bubbl;es at the top, is this normal or a sign that it needs a new HG again?
Having bubbles just means you still have air in the system from my opinion. My cousin's integra coolant was boiling up one time but didnt shoot out coolant everywhere. Told my cousin to flush out the coolant system and it's been working since. No boiling.

Well its been about 2 weeks and the car is overheating.. again.. The car drove 100 miles the other day with no problem, but we took it for a drive the other day and overheated almost as soon as we took it out. We realized it did not have coolant, but there have been no signs of coolant leaking.. which was really weird.. As it somehow just disappeared.. we suspect it is probably the head gasket again since we did not resurface the head last time we did it, but we are worried it might not be this, or that the head or block might be cracked. Is there any way to see if one or the other is cracked or know that it is the head gasket for sure?
