Default Sorry, another AC question.

I just installed a new OEM evaporator, expansion valve, suction line, discharge line, drier, compressor, and condenser, along with all new orings. Vac draw done for an hour and leak test for an hour. No leaks. Charged with 32ounces of R12. The compressor came with R12 compatible oil already in it in the correct amount. My high-side pressure is 225psi with an outside temp of 92 degrees and humid. My lw-side pressure is 45 psi. I am cooling down to 40 degrees at the mid vent, but my compressor is not cycling. Pressure switch is plugged in. I don't know if it isn't cycling because of the outside temp or if something is wrong. Any ideas, anyone.

Are you sure it isn't cycling? You wouldn't get down to 45psi if it wasn't. Or do you mean it isn't cycling off?

The compressor is engaged all the time. It does not cycle off.

So, I'm thinking this thing through. The pressure cycling switch on these old Hondas is always "ON." I don't know what pressure causes it to go to "OPEN," but I'm thinking that I probably just didn't put enough Freon in it. Normal newer cars will short-cycle with low Freon levels, but the pressure cycling switches on those cars are off until a high enough pressure kicks them on.

I only had 34 oz of R12 left from my days of youth, which may have degraded over the years. On the search for a bootleg bottle of R12!!!
