Default A/C Refrigerant charge question

Alright I bought a r12-r134a kit
I am not converting I was helping out a friend to add coolant on her 00 civic ex , since it was blowing hot air.
Well, I stuck it into the low side, which you can't mix up because fitting from the gauge only fits on one side of the two.
I had my ac turned ont o the max, and the pressue SHOT UP to 90 psi, in which it is suppose to be 25-35
Is my compressor shot because the hi and low pressure seem to be even
thanks

is the compressor even cutting on?if it isn't on,the pressure on the low side will be higher than the optimal pressure while the compressor is on.
i believe the pressure switch will not let the system kick on if pressure is too low.this could be your problem if their is a large amount of refrigerant needed.i think you have to short that pressure sensor to let the system come on to add the refrigerant.
this is all off the top of my head-i don't have any manuals here with me,so somebody please correct me if anything is wrong.

Is the compressor engaged/running? if not, it will read a higher than normal pressure and is most times normal until the it is running.

if it is running, and the pressure is that high, you might have a blockage somewhere in the system.

Hmm, thats probably why my compressor is not engaging, which is why my ac is not working because it needs to flow
thanks

have you put any refrigerant in it yet?

there is a low pressure switch which cuts the compressor off if there is not enough pressure. you may need to add some to the system before it will cycle on. depending on how low her system was on refrigerant, you may have to add as much as a can before the compressor will start cycling... until it does cycle, you will be reading the same pressure as the high side.
