Hey everyone. I have a BONE STOCK JDM B16A from HMO. I want to install a WS2 exhaust from Apexi, but I'm curious if that piping size (60MM/2.36") will work with the header collector that came with my B16A. The main concern I have is that I read some JDM header collectors are 2.5" and I definitely don't want to decrease the diameter of the exhaust system. I think the header collector is either 2" or 2.25" so the 2.36" on the Apexi would be perfect but just wanted to double check before I bought it. Oh- and I will be running a cat too (this is not a race car) so any tips on how to get the cat to mate with the header collector and exhaust pipe properly would be great. Thanks!

Thanks. So if I were to get this cat:

it should bolt right up to my header? Then I can attach the WS2 to the cat which is 2.36" (60MM) which is > 2" (the size of the cat). I think I got it. Thanks!

For 1...why would you want to chop up a ws2 catback?
And 2...you wont benefit anything doing that other than it sounding different, which the ws2 sounds awesome on its own.
And 3...basically throwing more money away doing that to gain nothing but maybe a horsepower or 2.

No test pipe here. I'll be picking up the cat, new gaskets/hardware, the WS2, and totally overhauling the system. I am going to attempt to do this at home- since my header is stock and I am using a direct-fit cat I think it should be a DIY job. In other words, no welding/fab required. Is that correct?

IF it does, take it to an exhaust shop and have them cut/reweld the cat at a different angle, shouldn't cost/take much.

WS2=sex. IMO best sounding exhaust ever put on the market. It will rob a few HP but no one cares when your car sounds like...well...sex.
just my .02 a testpipe will add a slight rasp if you ever did run it. I would run the magnaflow "spun" hi-flo cat. No heat shields and its rather small.
Nice. Thanks for the heads up. Is this on your EM1? Just read through your rebuild/restore thread...good stuff! Question for you- when you removed your front LCA, did you do anything with the front subframe (i.e. crossmember brace?) I can't remember whether your steering rack is bolted to that in the EM1 but mine's not in my EJ1. I need to replace my LCA in the front but they are rusted to a very rotted out subframe that I will probably replace all at once. I'm in CO now, but the car lived it's first 15 years in western NY. I see you're in OH so I know you feel my rust pain...

And yea, the cat is on the EM1, it rattles at idle and low RPMS, it drives me bat **** nuts

Just wanted to update this thread. I bought the Apexi WS2 catback exhaust system and the Magnaflow 22636 direct-fit catalytic converter. It fit well, except for the cat. I assumed direct-fit meant I could use OEM Honda hardware, but the factory spring bolts won't work. I had to go to Napa and get a different spring bolt kit with longer bolts, but the same thread pitch so I could re-use the factory lock nuts on the bolts. The kit would be better used with a fender washer to better support the spring compression, but I didn't use one and it installed fine. Note I also used the factory OEM Honda springs as well, which is why a fender washer would be better since the shoulder on the head of the Napa bolt is slightly smaller than the diameter of the OEM exhaust spring. Here's a picture of the packaging with the Napa part number:

Now for the exhaust hangers. The Apexi WS2 system only has a hanger for one rubber hanger on the resonator, whereas the factory system uses two rubber hangers (near the center of the car) for the resonator. What I did was take one of the factory resonator hangers and moved it to the passenger side of the muffler, and on the driver side of the muffler I re-used the factory rubber hanger that was on the car. That combination of hangers got the muffler tip to sit properly centered in the cutout in the bumper. Here's a picture before I aligned it with the proper hanger combination:

Some people have said in other posts that the resonator hangs low. I think it does hang a little lower than the factory one, but not much. I have never scraped it yet, but I'm not that slammed either. I'm lowered, but not slammed. If you adjust the rubber hanger on the resonator properly and bolt the resonator to the cat, it should hang properly. Here's a pic of mine:

I also replaced the exhaust heat shielding with some OEM replacements I got at the local U Pull:

SO TO SUMMARIZE:
1994 Civic EX Coupe (EJ1)
JDM B16A OBD1 swap
JDM B16A stock header
Magnaflow direct-fit 49 state catalytic converter (#22636)
Napa 600-1921 exhaust spring bolt kit
Apexi WS2 catback exhaust system
I love the sound (it's quiet, in my opinion), and it looks good. Very happy.
