Throwout bearing?
98 civic ex 170k.
1st 2nd 3rd gear theres a nasty rattle/chatter coming from the transmission while in gear. If i press in the clutch while rolling down the road the noise has no rattle but is a wicked bearing whine. If while still rolling i let the clutch out in neutral its gone, put it back in gear with the clutch still down and the whining comes back.
Is this a throwout bearing? I saw input shaft bearing mentioned a lot on here but seeing as its the low gears only it would be the bearing on the clutch side right?
Anybody have any guesses?

I would agree it is a internal bearing that is going in the transmission... usually if your ISB goes so does the countershaft bearings... about 100 dollars in OEM bearings at Honda... I just did some in a trans not too long ago
