Throwout Bearing making noise.......
I noticed the noise today when i got out of the car to open the garage. I was wondering if i should just change the bearing or just go ahead and change the clutch while the tranny is down.
Also how long would i be able to drive the car with a bad throwout bearing?

My general rule is if you have the $$ to get everything replaced you might as well. Why waste the time or pay someone else to do it twice if you have the money to replace it all. That's what I did....I'm the proud owner of a CenterForce Dual Friction clutch kit w/ TO bearing. I think it depends on how bad the bearing is now and your driving style to say how much longer you can drive on it.
Peace.
Peace.

Re: Throwout Bearing making noise....... (SolObsession)
I replaced a bad clutch on my old motor and the throwout bearing was destroyed...or near to it. I would buy AT MINIMUM a "OEM" replacement from Exedy....my buddy has it and it is beautiful. It might not just be the throwout either....do you have trouble sometimes going into gear. If that is the case the springs in the clutch disk might be bad or loose....and in that case (like it was with mine) It is better to just replace the whole thing.

im having the same problem right now too...sometimes it gets a little sticky into first but it will go in..but when im ideling and not in gear a bearing in the tranny is making noise...someone told me it is most likely the input-shaft bearing rather than the TO bearing...but im goin to replace both real soon..
