Hey guys,

I just joined the forum. I've got a JDM 4th Gen BB1 (Auto). I have been trying to get the balancing of the wheels done, but every time the guy tries doing an on wheel balance...both wheels spin. I was told to turn off the TCS, after doing that still no difference...does this mean I have a LSD tranny..? If yes how can I get a proper wheel balancing done without screwing up the tranny? Any help would be very much appreciated.

Why can't he take the wheels off and balance them normally?

 

Take them off the car, there's no other way to balance the rims. And no, it doesn't mean that you have an LSD. Just means that you have a differential in the car.

 

Do a burnout. If both wheels spin...you have LSD.

 

The tire guy doesn't know what he's doing. If you turn one tire on the driven axle of ANY car, the other side will also spin. Whether or not you have an LSD is immaterial. FWIW, if you have an LSD, both tires will spin the same direction, if you have an "open" diff, they spin opposite directions.

Also when the car is on the lift, in Drive and the wheels are slowly turning, you can just grab hold of the wheel while it is turning and it will stop. (open differential)

About your specific question, I guess it means you cannot do on-car balancing of the driven axle.
