Default Phantom Grip LSD

Everyone who has the Phantom Grip LSD post a reveiw of your thoughts and feelings about this product. Please also include how long you have had it and how it is holding up.

Trying to decide what I want to do as far as LSD's go. Also, I have a quick question. I have my Lude up on blocks right now. I started the motor and let it run. Now both wheels were turning and I had it in neutral. What is up with that? Could it be I already have some type of LSD? How can I check my tranny to see if I have on of the rare ones with a LSD in it?

As for the Phantom Grip, everyone who has ones loves it, most who don't have one hate it.

both wheels were turning while the tranny was in neutral? that doesn't sound right to me. if the transmission is in neutral there should be no power transmitted to the wheels, LSD or not. i've had my car in the air before with the tranny in neutral and the tires were not spinning. were they spinning fairly fast, or were they just sort of rotating? and were they rotating in different directions or the same?

<-- likes his phantom grip.

I may not like the principle of how it works, but I can't argue with the job it has done for me so far.

It works, its more or less just works like a "locker" on a truck.. Not a TRUE lsd, and won't help at all in corners..

The Quaife LSDs have gone so far down in pricing, i would get that, since it is a true LSD and will work great in corners...

Actually, they DO help in corners. I was told they wouldn't, but I've noticed a much better feel when trying to pull through some tight turns. So what if they weren't on a track? A few other people I've talked to have said the same thing. They've noticed much better handling.

Corey, last time I checked the Quaife was still around $800, now I don't want to sound like a cheap *** or anything, but the Phantom Grip is somewhere around $200-$250. And they basically do the same thing. I know the Phantom Grip is not a true LSD, but I was kinda more looking at funcationality and price. It functions almost as well and it is a 1/4 of the price. Not a bad trade off. I have heard mixed things on this subject, and it seems the different posts always have a different attitude toward the Grip. That is why I wanted to see who is using it and how they like it. By the way, did you get that motor in? I am waiting on a few parts before I install mine. I broke down I got that Hondata intake gasket, I will let you know if it works or not. I also thought it would be a good idea to hook up my gauges while the motor was out. Little bit easier to work on. The only thing I am looking at now is where in the world I am going to fit all these damn gauges. I have been thinking some crazy sh*t thought. Like a complete Fiberglass dash. I don't know if I am going to go that far, but I just might!

The tranny thing was messed up, I didn't realize the neighbors kid was hanging around and spinning the tires on me. I only know now because I was working on it today and he came in like he was being sneaky and spinned them. I was a little relieved that it was him! But I also had to explain that was not a place to play.

full fiberglass dash and you'll have to be careful that it doesn't crack. Had that happen to a friend after he sold the car. (Orange one in stupid street with Z3 headlights and Lexus tailights)

Anyway... the phantom grip is NOT a real LSD... I know this.

I am using his garage. Big one behind his house, he is away on a cruise, so I have the hook up!

I got the motor in and its running VERY strong.. A h22a4 running on OBD1.. Im useing the 5th gen prelude tranny as well, feels a lot tighter than my old tranny, but my old motor and tranny are gonna get rebuilt sometime within a year, so I can have a backup set for the honda-challange...

If it was me, I would spend he extra 600$.. Quaife are gear driven and guaranteed for life.. But then again, I do a lot more corner carving..
