Icon2 94 dx sedan Temp Gauge Issues.

Alright not sure if this is the right place to post this if not please point me in the right direction, but I just picked up a 94 dx sedan Automatic everything is stock but it needs some work. I drove the car home yesterday and when the gas is pushed the temp gauge drops to way below cold. Even when the car idles the temp gauge jumps up and down and isn't steady. Just wondering if this is a common thing or not in these cars. Thanks

change your thermostat or change the coolant GAUGE sensor .. advanced auto sells them I just got one ... I would do this first.. the sensor could be going bad...It has a headphone style jack/plug on it... it's right under the distributor....

Perfect thanks for the reply,

I ran the car today and let it get up to temp and it did its normal figgity gauge thing, I went under the hood and jiggled the wires to the sensor and it completely stopped ready I jiggled them again and it stayed steady. I think they just may need cleaned but I will replace the sensor just for the piece of mind.

Is there anything I need to be on the look out for when I do go to change it? Or is pretty straight forward?

its straight forward unbolt the old one .... put some tape or gasket maker on the threads of the new one and screw the new one back in...its about a 17 dollar part
