1990 Accord hitting 200k. what should I look out for?
It's a two door 2.2 liter automatic LX and I love this car to death. Since it will be hitting 200,000 miles on the odometer, I want to know what I should check or replace to keep this thing on the road another 200k. I all ready planned a tune up, but I want to know if there's something I might overlook that could be a disaster waiting to happen. Basically, any wisdom is welcome. Thanks.
Timing belt, balance shaft belt and tensioners, water pump and valve adjustment would be something to look at if you have not done this maintenance recently. Along with your regular tuneup and maintenance.
Front wheel bearings, lower balljoints, front sway bar endlink bushings, will eliminate front end noise, add smoothness to the steering, and reduce body roll, returning the front end to a more like new condition. Timken(NTN) wheel bearings can be purchased through RockAuto for ~$30(US) Discount code -152440456776233[Good until 28 July 2013.]
