Icon2 05 Accord 2.4L Timing Chain - Tips Needed

I am looking for a Honda tech out there who's done this job before to give me some tips - possible pitfalls - or anything else I might need to know.

The car has 175K on it .... and I'm starting to hear a bit of an odd noise at low rpms, while under load.

I'm pondering opening the engine up to replace timing chain, tensioner, and guides.

Any other parts needed?

Advice?

I've done 2.3L timing belt jobs perhaps a dozen times, but never the 2.4L chain.

Thanks in advance,

Steve

I have a 1992 honda accord with 404.000 miles on it, all road miles. I ve had the timming belts replace twice in the last four years.
this is the 2.0 with two belts, I have always replace water pump and seal on the cam shaft as well.
since last replacement of belt has been roughly 90.000 miles ago. this car was rebuilt after a crash on drivers side, I have replace just about everything in the engine except head. it just goes every day, snow, rain heat..

thanks for your help.

Bill

Normally those timing chains dont require any service. When they do it's from lack of service, as in lack of oil changes. So far the only 2.4l chains i've seen needing replaced is on neglected motors with a lot of sludge build up from lack of maintenance. Checking for a stretched chain is easy enough by taking the valve cover off. If it's not bad it's a waste of time and money to replace it.
