I have a 2001 (previously stated it was a 1992...my error) Honda Civic. I had never had any problem with it. on a dry day after driving approx 10 miles my "malfunction" indicator came on and my car died immediately. I immediately tried to restart.. nothing. I waited a few minutes, turning off the key. I turned the key back on and the indicator lit for a few seconds and went off. The car then easily restarted. After driving another couple of miles the indicator again came on tne the car died immediately. I was within a few miles of a Honda dealer and after another similar sequence managed to get to the dealer. The dealer said he run a computer check and could find no problem. I saw several posts where the indicator light came on but the engine didn't stop. In each case mine died immediately. Any suggestions. Obviously some malfunctions do not kill the car and others do??

*You're in the wrong forum. You should be in this forum: Honda Civic/Del Sol (1992 - 2000)

Start by looking for codes: http://check-engine-light-codes.blog...retrieval.html

If no codes, try to pull codes when it happens. I'd also start looking for bad connections. Look at battery connections and grounds first.

I don't know why they have put me in the Honda civic/Del Sol 1992/2000. my Civic was purchased in Oct. 2001 in Thailand and was new from the dealer. The connection they show me to jumper on the passenger side does not exist on my car. I ran it in the parking area for about 30 minutes and didn't get a malfunction light but am a bit leary to drive it far from service points.
