Do MAP sensors go bad?
Story: Almost got hit, slammed brakes. Car started idling would bounce 700-1500 over and over shortly after.
Engine: ZC odb0?
Things tried:
Burping radiator
Sprayed carb cleaner on vacuum hoses checking for leaks, could not find.
One vacuum tube was replaced with spare generic tubing from autostore, because the existing one wouldnt pop off.
Retarded & advanced distributor
Per the video below:
Cleaned the part with 2 tubes behind (no clue on its actual name) the intake with carb cleaner.
Found out that the thing behind the throttle (no clue on name), didnt have that plastic white ring, but some sort of copper thing instead.
Afterwards:
Car stopped bouncing (maybe) instead RPMs idle'd at 2k which is why I said maybe as I'm not sure if it stopped bouncing or its just idling so high that its above the bouncing range.
Disconnected the hose circled in green. RPMS dropped to 500ish no bouncing. Plugged it back in went back to 2k.

Disconnected the map sensor and hoses. Sprayed carb cleaner inside the hoses, and sensor. Left it unhooked over night to dry. Woke up hooked it back up now idles at 1.5k, still high. Also it doesn't seem to be a responsive when accelerating now.
I forgot what made me think it might be the MAP sensor as it was really late last night, I think its because when not plugged in the RPM's were closest to normal, but of course the CEL went off after awhile.
Do MAP sensors go bad? a new one is really expensive to take a guess on and most hondas/acuras are stripped at the junk yard not sure what the chances are of finding one tomorrow.

well spraying carb cleaner into the map sensor wasn't the best idea, and yes it could kill it. test it with a volt meter by checking the voltage going back to the ECU - it should match what the vacuum gauge reads.
i doubt that your issue was/is the map sensor. i think you actually just have a vacuum leak at this point.

Eric has a video on vacuum leaks, watch that too.
Later.
