whats wrong with my alarm
Yahoo I finally got my CRV. It’s a 97... I’ll start a slow build thread with pics later.
My first hurdle is the factory alarm. I push the button on the fob and the doors unlock everything is fine. Once I open the door the lights start flashing like the alarm is going off. It probably is but my horn doesn’t work. I figure I’ll fix the alarm first. The other strange thing is she won’t start. I have to sit in her, turn alarm back on wait 30sec then turn it back off... then I have to quickly start her up.
Any ideas? Anyone hear of this before?

You know what I think you’re right. The seller listed it as factory alarm, but the model number on the remote googled to be audiovox. After playing around I found that there seems to be a delay after I hit the button. If I open the door too soon the alarm goes off, if I wait 10 seconds it seems to work fine so I’ll see how that goes for a few weeks.
Thanx
Now to figure out the horn I think it’s burnt out because I can faintly hear a little noise when I try to honk it, so maybe I just need to replace the horn unit its self.

yeah sounds like an aftermarket alarm with starter kill. if you deciede to remove it then you will have to reconnect the starter wire bac normal. the wire is cut and looped through the alarm.
and as far as the horns go, id replace them as well. if you hear something out of them, even faintly, then they are getting signal so the relays and fuses are good. i bought some horns off of ebay that were cheaper than hellas but look similar.
