Why does my 93 accord 5spd take so long to drop in RPMs?
I am having trouble with my car, when I am shifting fast, my RPMs take a long time to fall back down. This is causing me to wither A)wait or B)shift into gears at too high of rpm and smoke the clutch a bit..
Is this normal? if it is a problem, what must I do?

Maybe your throttle cable is sticking? Try pushing the pedal to the floor (with the car off) and watch it come back up, if it pops right back up, your fine, if it doesn't then it's sticking. Might be sticking anywhere... check that it moves freely at the Throttle Body...
It is not sticking, the throttle cable is fine. It is something else, I just dont know what. I was hoping you guys would have some ideas...maybe if I asked a question about aplying NOS decals you could answer my questions better.
release bearing?? perhaps a leaking master/slave cylinder....doesnt sound like the clutch is fully disengaging upon depressing the pedal.

You may need a new throttle return spring, they will wear out over time.
sometimes it gets stuck, it did on my crx.
also check the throttle adjustment at the end of the cable where it is attached to the trottle. you might have to adjust that.
Hmmm, it DOES have 130,000 miles on it. Please explain to me, why would a bad clutch make it take long to drop in RPMs. Wouldn't that mean it was grabbing too much and taking too long to release? Please explain.
It means it is slipping and there is no load on the engine , as the clutch finally hooks up then the RPM drops because there is a load on the motor. Not a good thing.
So, basically, I need to get a new clutch asap.
OK. How much will a decent clutch cost? Am I going to have to drop the engine to change my clutch? How much will a lighter flywheel cost?

I think good clutches (clutch disk and pressure plate) are less than or around $200. Flywheels are $200 at above.
Installation would be like $300~$500 dollars, so that's the best way to save. Clutch takes a lot of work to change, but it's not that hard. The trasmission must be removed and put back on; that's the hardest part. But before that you gotta take out an axle...

Ok so its gonna cost me in the neighborhood of $500? Damnit. And I was hoping to spend my next $500 on getting a new AC compressor. Argh. Well at least I have another car i can drive, so I drop the axle and tranny out for a week to do this job.
You don't need a new flywheel, just a clutch, so that's just $200 if you can do it yourself.
Well, I jsut got the car 2 weeks ago, bought it from a lady owner, 130k miles, origonal clutch. It doesnt really slip much at all. I am going to take a look into some other stuff before I do this job. I have driven cars that slip much much more and they are fine..but who knows...
