How about verify timing instead of just guessing at it?

yeah you're definately out of time. reset the mechanical timing then do a compression test. did you make sure to rotate the engine by hand to get the tensioner tight before you fired it up?

Whenever a timing belt related piece is altered/replaced it is VERY important to rotate the engine by hand at least 3-4 full rotations the normal running direction (in your case counter clockwise) Before attempting to start up the engine. This will save your a$$ (in case you didn't know). Take the spark plugs out so it turns easy, too.

Do you guys wanna hear the more realistic answer that answeres the question??

What i beleve happened and i dont own a honda so dont quote me but i believe the engine is stuck with the vtec engaged at all times so the blowing is actually the overlap caused by the timing being right but the cam being stuck in the more aggressive advancement... your welcome😆

Obviously, you do not own a Honda, so we will NOT quote you. This is not the issue... and you are about seven years late to this party.
