brake rotor and pad question...
my power slots have just about had it and are starting to crack.
-is it worth the money for the brembo blanks or are people having good luck with the regular auto parts store rotors?
-what pad is everyone having good luck with?
-dot5 fluid, or silicone?

Im just running summit drilled and slotted rotors with hawk performance hps pads. Summit rotors are not expensive at all and are great in quality. They are slightly cheaper than factory replacement duralast rotors at autozone. Id go with those before buying brembo or regular auto parts rotors. I also use dot 3 fluid from autozone. No problems stopping around 150 mph.
You can run autozone etc rotors just opt for premium rotors not the cheapest ones you can buy as they will warp very quickly. Im running premium Callahan rotors and they're holding up well but my PBR Axis pads suck ***. after two or three 140mph slows downs they saw a lot of fade and now don't stop for anything. Will be upgrading to Hawk HP+ pads up front, WIll keep the PBR pads in the rear but have HP+ for rear just in case. IMO dont bother with the cross drilled just get a premium solid rotor.
It always amazes me also. It's simply because so and so said it worked for them why do they need anything else? I used brembo slotted with hawk hps pads. No warping or anything. I'll use this till I upgrade to wilwood setups
I hear you! People will spend thousands on engine and drive train parts to go fast but won't spend a couple hundred bucks or should I say want to spend the minimum to upgrade the braking hardware.

I apoligize for reading your post incorrectly...lol. You don't have to get all fancy with cross drilled/slotted stuff unless the rotor you want comes that way. Just get some good quality blanks/pads and you should be ok. There's a good write up over in the brake section here's the link...scroll down to where they talk about pads.

I have Brembo blanks and Hawk HPS pads.. they work great, although the Hawk pads that I use produce a lot of brake dust. I would definitely opt for the Brembo blanks though!
IMO PBR/Axxis Ultimate pads are the best pads I've ever used, wether it be with regular (oem quality) rotors or premuim drilled/slotted rotors. Unfortunately I can't get a hold of these pads anymore and especially not for the price I was getting them at 2 warehouses that I deal with, which was approx $75 for a full set of front and rear. I have these pads on my race car with fastbrakes rotors, only premium rotors I can find for the ITR 4x114 pattern.
These pads have outperformed pads from AEM, Project MU, Stoptech, PBR Metal Master, Akebono, and EBC. I might have tried other pads too but my point is the Ultimates are the best pads I've ever used. They are the best priced, best in performance, and best in wear and tear.
