98 civic b16a swap, no spark
Hello all, I'm in need of a little advice.
So I purchased a sir-II b16a from HMO, and simultaneous to doing the swap I relocated my battery to the trunk (used 8 gauge wire, after a little searching I realized I should have used minimum 4. I plan to re-run 2 gauge wire this afternoon). After I completed what I thought was everything, I hopped in and tried to turn it over. The engine cranks but no spark is getting to the plugs. While trying to find a solution I swapped the ignition coil from my old engine (d16y8) to the new engine. Hop in the car, and it turns over. After weeks of not hearing it run and working on it, the roar of the engine warms my heart, until that is it died after running approximately 15-20 second. I again pulled a spark plug and tested it for spark but am getting none. I did some searching (couldn't come up with much) and most of it point to checking the ground wires. I did this, and they all appeared to have good contact and tightly bolted on. But upon noticing the ground from the tranny to frame, I noticed it was touching the clutch line. Could this have caused a bad ground and fried the ignition coil causing no spark once again? Or could it be because I used 8gauge wire to relocate my battery and now its not getting ample energy and burning out? Or is it a combination of the two?
Thanks for reading, I hope someone has some input on this - michael
