synchrotech rebuild kit install. help
i bought the full carbon rebuild kit bearings seals the whole works. We got the tranny hot tanked and cleaned all the gears. now the input shaft bearing is difficult to turn but turns. theres no oil in the tranny what so ever. so my question is if this something normal that happens after the install?
Did you feel how difficult it was to turn the input shaft before you disassembled the tranny? they are difficult to turn already. Are you sure that it is in neutral? How are you sure that it is the input bearing?
No oil? How do you mean? Trans not filled or trans assembled dry?
I know nothing about synchrotech synchros, but you normally want to soak synchros in mtf for a while and coating all bushings/bearings is a good idea, also. If not, the synchros drag and make it hard to turn and can burn them up during the first few seconds of start up. How is your endplay?

Oh my bad guys I meant input shaft. Yeah we only lightly coated the synchros and sleeves. Its put together but not in the car yet.I didn't think of soaking the synchros. Before dissembling the tranny was done. Gears were good but syncs and sleeves were shot so I got the full rebuilt kit. So I'm thinking everything is too dry. Thanks for
The info so far though

If it's dry it will make it harder to turn the shaft but it can also be due to something not assembled properly. Make sure to clock the stopper plate to 12:00 and be sure the cases close all the way by hand before putting the bolts in. If you pull the cases together with the bolts to close the gap it will smash the top synchro and lock up the shaft. Here are some links to help:

I decided not to install the tranny. After many emails and phone calls which were all answer extremely fast. David at synchrotech told me to try a couple of things and he invited up to the shop if i couldnt figure it out. After a couple of tries of putting on the case and taking it off i had enough so i decided to drive up to sychrotech 1hr 20mins away from where i live. i get there and David was the first one i saw. He told me to go to the back of the shop. Instantly one of the shop guys was waiting for me with a cart. He put the tranny on bench and started to diagnose the tranny. withing minutes he finds out that my gsr tranny isn't a gsr. Apparently someone frankenstein the tranny. it had b16 gear sets with a GSR final drive. I had cracked forks and the bracket that shifts were broken.........i was super bummed out because there was way more damage than i thought and that the gear ratios were too short for my turbo set up. Another on of the guys comes out to the bench (sorry im bad with names and i was also tired researching and working on the tranny the night before) starting talking to the guy that was working on my tranny. They offered me to switch out my final drive with an LS 4.266 FD(with the b16 gear set combo it would make it shorted than an LS tranny but longer than a GSR) AND they also install my LS 5th gear.....then the guy noticed that my differential had some major wear. They took out another differential and showed me the difference. The difference was super noticeable. once again i was bummed out. BUT sychrotech once again made another offer to sell me an Mfactory LSD and a reasonable price. It was an offer i couldnt refuse so i went for it. They took the tranny apart and cleaned every little piece of it. After they layed out all the parts and they built than thing withing minutes AND they replaced all the other broken parts with some extra parts they had laying around. They also hooked it up with a replacement shift fork and the ball pinion where the fork sits because i had a single cam one! So i walked in with trash. And i ended up with a pro series carbon lined synchros, new sleeves, full rebuild kit, b16 gear sets,LS final drive LS 5th gear,Mfactory LSD and because they are such badasses they didnt charge me for their work!!!! they also geared me up with a shirt decals and a hat!! talk about customer service. The tranny got install and all i have to say is.......F$%# **** this tranny is sooooo sick!!! shifts like butter on powershifting and the LSD makes a world of a difference. sorry for the long reply but i just wanted you guys to know how bad *** these people are and how they treat all their customers. They exceeded my expectations at every category!! The only thing better than the tranny is their customer service thank you synchrotech!!!!!!!!
Been to Synchrotech a couple of times now. David and his staff provided excellent customer service from the second I walked in. As David greeted me he invited me to the back of the shop and I was amazed at how organized and clean everything was back there. I will no longer look elsewhere for my transmission parts. Thumbs up to the Synchrotech crew!
