Default B16a n/a build.

Hey guys! It's been like about a year and a half since I last posted. So ill give you the run down. Iam rockin a 91 civic sedan with a Jdm b16a sir II obd-0, xxr 15x7 with hankook ventus rs-3's koni yellows with eibach springs, and the usual auto-manual conversion, dpfi-mpfi conversion (obviously). I plan on building it n/a for a DD with weekend mountain runs and full autox season.
Now that we got that over with, Iam rebuilding my motor and trans in about a month. As far as tranny goes I pretty much have a parts list; carbon syncros, LSD, ls 5th gear, stage 2 clutch. My motor on the other hand, is up for debate. Let me state this, I will build an n/a b16. Not gonna bore it or change the block or go boost. I was grateful to find a naturally aspirated forum lol. Iam thinking 12.5:1 pistons (http://builtengine.com/Products/Mahl...ower-Pack.html), obd-1 conversion with hondata, and that's really Ll I got so far. I want some opinions, I might drop my motor back in after all that and run it till I get more cash to dump on valve train, cams, and itbs, maybe methanol. Any thoughts on how it would run with just pistons and a rebuild? I don't have a finger on cams yet, but I was thinking about just picking up a cheap itr/ctr intake cam(can't remember) till I go ***** to the wall and finish my motor.

Sooo, based on that info, any suggestions? Mainly on those pistons, and cams.
Thanks for reading.

Stock B16A springs are not safe to use for with ITR cams. It will prolly run, but your almost at coil bind and the pressure is so light there is no margin of safety for valve float.

Ah good good. Would I be safer running stock cams? Not sure about mixing performance and stock. What about ctr? Just the intake

Ya pretty much if you don't want to change the bottom end head work and trany work is the next options... You can do some weight reductions, lighter flywheel (helps huge w that motor), rims, get rid of the tq mounts and get strong motor mounts, minis the a/c, carbon fiber hood. Now yes that gets expensive also but most things are when it comes to performance. I say wieght reduction because you mentioned up-hill racing and the b16 does not have tq so reducing weight helps that motor huge especially when gaining lost hp and tq back... Flywheel, lighter rims, lighter pulleys and cam gears... Eliminating a/c and power steering if the car came with it gains lost hp back also... Thinner head gasket to bump the cr up will help it climb also. Along with blox/hondata/ IM gasket, helps reduce intake temp in which both are fairly cheap. Every little bit helps that little guy climb... I love the b16a good luck...

And outlaw intake gasket is the one you would wanna get... I heard the hondata one can actually shrink over time and cause air flow restrictions... Nothin bad about the blox gasket that I've heard. My friend has that on his b18c and seems fine also... I really recommend this and a thinner head gasket... It really helps the motor respond, and the flywheel man, big fan... Thoughs are your cheaper options and you'll be pleased...

Oh yea, a/c and power steering deleted. Just installed a manual steering rack like two weeks ago. And by the way, easily the best upgrade.
