I was just wondering, if there is any benifits of having a gsr trans on a b16?
I would rather have a b16 trans but that's what came with the motor.
I heard its good for a boosted b16 but I'm not sure if I will ( would love too though)
Is there anything I can do to make it better. I fall out of vtec in third.
Just want to see what India out there.

I had a GSR trans w/LSD mated to my B16 in my old EH3, loved the lower cruising rpm, still had plenty of power down in the lower gears. Good gas mileage on top of it.

Thanks for the info and feedback. I guess since the car is going to be more if a dd and show car I don't think it matters what trans I have. I used to race my 06 si before I had to sell it and got this car.
I would like to put an LSD in it one day.would of done it when I put the engine in but had to save for wife's surgary .

You shouldn't be falling out of vtec with a gsr trans.(depending on where vtec crosses over & where you're shifting) especially in 3rd gear.
You saying that instantly made me think ls trans. A gsr trans on a b16 isn't bad by any means....a ls on the other hand.......

It's a very quick drop out at third
It's kind if weird feel, going through the first two gears in vtec then going into third it drops out

At what rpm does vtec engage? And at what rpm are you shifting?
With a gsr trans shifting into 3rd at 8k should drop the revs to just over 6k
In this video, does it appear your revs and speed match up to this car? Its a b16 w/ gsr trans

i am in the process of buying a ls trans from 1FASTEF to mate with my b20b4 i think it will be ideal for the powerband the b20 has.
back on topic. i can't view the vid here at work because youtube is blocked but anyways... a gsr trans on a b16 should never drop out of vtec.
OP, when you run 2nd gear to 8k and go to 3rd. what rpm does your tach read?

I'm going to have to go out and see. It's been a while since I have gone into vtec.
-we installed a set of skunk2 stage 1 cams (had obd0 b16 cams before)
-so the clutch is slipping now, but I'll give it a try.
-I may not be going all the way to 8.
-car is still kind of new to me since the engine install

Just talked to my buddy it only would drop out because of the original set up/ tune.
With the cams and tune I should be ok. Just need go to 8 or little above to stay in vtec.
The spacing between the gears I guess was to long for my rpm range
