Low Oil Pressure
It seems as though I had this problem last time, right before I spun a main bearing. My low oil pressure light flickers when the car is warm and at a low idle. When driving, all is well, but when I put the clutch in and the RPMS drop the light comes on.
I recently purchased a block, eagle crank, eagle rods, wiesco pistons, all new main and rod bearings, gaskets for days, new water pump, new oil pump, new timing belt etc etc.. Everything that could have been replaced in the block was.
There were a few things replaced in the head, but nothing big. The only problem I noticed in the head was some minor scarring on one of the cam journals. It was very minor. I had the head looked, and I was assured that it would not affect any oil pressure issues, it wasn't sever enough.
I hook up an oil pressure gauge, and from a cold start the jumps to 20psi then hangs out around 10 psi. After a few minutes of warming up, it seems to slowly drop to 6-7 psi.
Any ideas what this might be? I was told I could shim the spring in the oil pump? I like the idea, but I feel that if there is a larger problem, than its just masking it. I was also told I may need a high volume pump because of the new internals, but I'm pretty sure OEM pumps are good for this application.
