Default Blown head gasket and then bad injector

I replaced my headgasket on my 96 honda civic about 15k miles ago, and now the injector went bad on the same cylinder that blew the gasket.

The weird thing is that we needed to replace the gasket twice because it blew right away again, I suspect the machinist did a poor job with my head but could it be something more that is causing that cylinder to perform poorly?

I suppose it could just be bad luck, but I thought I'd ask.

I'd put money on the head resurfacing.

Can a bad injector possibly have caused the head gasket to have blown out in the first place?

Don't see how but stranger things have happened. You keep saying the injector was bad but you don't say what was bad about it.

well its causing the cylinder to mis-sfire, and swapping moves the misfire. I'm no professional mechanic, I don't really have any better way to test it.

sounds like you need to have someone else do the milling on the head.

the injector could just randomly gone bad, but with the mis fire you refer to sounds odd. usually they either stay stuck open/on and flood the cylinder or just won't spray at all(no pulse)

replace the injector and have the head re done.

Actually while I'm on a forum full of people that love these cars, anyone have any recommendations for brands(aftermarket/OEM)? Or locations I should go to order them?

Couldn't a malfunctioning injector lean out a cylinder enough to cause detonation and overheating in that cylinder only?

I thought about that. Anything is possible, But we were never told what was wrong with the injector.

Unfortunately, neither was I. This is my wife's car and she took it straight to the shop when it started knocking. From what the mechanic told me, that cylinder wasn't firing due to the injector. I come from a part of the country that has %20 ethanol in the "plus" gas and I wonder if the previous owner ran that gas. This could explain why both the head gasket and injector went bad. I'm considering replacing all 4 injectors as that ethanol is hard on everything it touches.
