Yep, looks the cat is bad. If you decide to keep the car, then give it a tune up and adjust the ignition timing before you buy a new cat.

Damn they check timing.
Must suck to live in Cali and deal with the hard emission.
But last time I had high reading I ran a bottle of emission stuff. It was like $9 said something about pass or money back.

jaybee: doubt its the cat.. all your emissions would be high. maybe try an o2 sensor

reaperman: you passed when you took it to the other shop probably because the cat was all nice and hot from the prev. shop...(?)

nope. before i took it to either shop i raced/abused it before taking it in. and trust me it was a hot day too. both smog shops did it right away as soon as i got there due to there not being anyone else there to smog there cars. and another thing, the reason i left that smog shop was because i had a brand new cat that was about 4 days old..... soooo.................... i only replaced it because my original had taken a dump. it was so original the actual cat looked black, kinda threw me off, kinda looked like someone took a torch to it and burnt it

don't know if they are the same part number but if they are not then they must be a different heat range
