in what oem car can i find a 4.7 final drive for b series? im loking to order one from honda/acura and im not sure which vehicle and year had them stock thanks guys

 

98+ jdm itr and 00+ USDM itr

 

100% certain that 2000-2001 type r's had the 4.7 fd?

I'm pretty sure US ITR only had 4.4 The only 4.7 came from 98+ JDM ITR's.

The 4.7 is nice, the 4th and 5th gears are the same as GSR to make up for it tho. But the 98+ with 4.7 has the shortest 1-3 gearing.

I just did a **** ton of reading on these trannies cuz I got a 98+ spec with 4.7 for $300 and had to rebuild 3/4 of it. I now have $1200 into it.

 

Only the 98-01 JDM Type R tranny came with the 4.78 final drive sir. You can get it from Hmotorsonline.com.

I would order one from m factor. Probably cheaper and a better gear . The itr 4.7 only comes in trannys from japan and they take a special first gear different from any other b series tranny even though its the same ratio. Im guessing you will want to run a higher first gear and it would be alot easier to just get a final drive and first gear from m factor. If you already have a first gear dont order a factory 4.7 or you want be able to use the first gear that you have now. Just trying to help man i build about ten trannys a week.

gsr I believe I had a b16 ls and a broken type r trans to make one LSD ended. up buying a gsr and swapped LSD ur best bet is like f20b Jones said mfactory they got great stuff

You are incorrect and spreading misinformation.

Usdm itr's only came with a 4.4 final for all years of production.

OP, just get a 4.9 and an LSD (if you don't have one) and call it a day.

The gear ratio may be the same, but the parts of the countershaft are definitely different.

You need a gsr/ITR diff for the 98 spec FD

You will need the 98 spec countershaft and 1st gear as will as a few other parts

 

The OEM 4.7 will only work with GSR, ITR, and CTR differentials.

You will need to order an aftermarket FD like an MFactory if you want to use your B16A diff.

 

Like someone said above get a 4.9 and end this madness

 

B16a2 s4c tranny"5th GSR"+ LSD + 4.92 ...for me is the best combo and you don't need spend a lot of money
