B18 with GSR or B16 Trans??
2000 coupe with b18 and ls trans looking to get a new trans have two to pick from looking to 1/4 track the car n/a. My choices are a S4 (si trans) or a Y80/S80 (gsr trans) both USDM. Found my research everyone says b16 tranny and possible differental upgrade later because weaker diffs.. My question short distance 1/4 mile which would be better??
A friend and I both have the same setup he though has a gsr tranny and I am stuck with the slow ls tranny he beats me every time I'm hoping to pull ahead by making a better choice with which trans I buy
Thanks HT Guys!

personally I like the my ITR which is basically a b16 lsd trans. it SUCKS to do any highway driving but I do not drive much if ever on highway so its ok for me. I like the fact I can cruise around town in 5th and still be at 2.3/2.5k rpms and have tq to pull in traffic if needed

np. btw I drive 11 miles one way to work on a 50mph county highway and 4 miles city (part of total 11 miles) and still average 30-33 with gsr w/itr trans
For 1/4 N/A I would go with the B16 transmission since the shaft gearing is shorter. They both have a 4.40 Final Drive ratio.
As mentioned above. The ITR trans is a good alternative since the USDM and 96 Spec JDM versions have the same gear ratio as the B16. 98 Spec JDM ITR will have a 4.78 Final Drive ratio and GSR 4th and 5th Gear ratio.

Thanks man for the good info really helpful! I'll remember your name I'd like to pay and get my Ls trans sent out and built with new gears.
