IS JDMTIGERJAPANESE RELIABLE?
I'm looking to buy a H22A OBD 1 DOHC VTEC Engine for my prelude from www.jdmtigerjapanese.com I was just looking for some feedback on their company and if they were reliable and safe to order from. If you have any history with them, some help would be greatly appreciated!
Personally I have no experience with them. But I've heard some horrendous stories about them like the engines being complete garbage. Like cracked blocks ecu's broken and not being replaced. I'd never buy from them I rarely hear any good stories about them. Check out www.hmotorsonline.com I hear nothing but good feed back about them it is a little bit more but its worth it for the peace of mind that you're going to have a good running engine.

DO NOT GO THROUGH HMOTORSONLINE!!!
i got my f20b from them and instead of the 2 weeks it took over two months with the same answer every day for a month and a half, "itll be there tomorrow" after finally getting engine #2 that they sent me i was supposed to get a hefty refund due to all the trouble, got nothing. also motor came with a bad head gasket. i will never go through hmotors. they are more expensive and IT IS NOT worth it.
i personally have never heard anything bad about jdmtigerjapanese.com. call up there and talk to one of there reps and go from there. but personally i wouldnt go anywhere near hmotorsonline.com but that is just my opinion.
Since alot of engines come into Canada from Japan, then go to the states, why not try and find a local supplier of JDM engines? That way you can actually physically see the engine you are buying, instead of paying and waiting for one to come in and hoping its in good shape.
I know here in Calgary we have a few different places, jdmsource being one of them that has a good website as well.

I agree I have heard alot of bad reviews from them as well. I was told that since they are out of the country they can pretty much screw you over and not have to deal with it. I'd try and find a local JDM supplier. I knew of one in Jamaica NY, and a couple in Cali.

Buying engines from overseas is a major crapshoot. I've been contemplating getting an f20b to swap in my 3rd gen for years. I can't seem to bite the bullet.
I work for a junkyard that exports to Venezuela. Our buyer comes in and gives a list of what he wants for the shipping container and when it will show up at our yard. Hurricane sandy hit the north east and shortly after we got our list of drivelines/parts. The buyer said he didn't give a **** what the engines had been thru. If there full of water pull the plugs, spin them by hand and load them. They buy anything as long as its not seized/hole in the block. You can only hope the buyer in Japan is honest enough to only buy good parts.

I just received my jdm h22 from hmotoronline it came looking great I went with them because I've heard many issues with jdmtigerjapanese I don't regret spending the extra cash! Good luck!
many years ago (almost 10 if not more than 10 now) i purchased a motor through hmotorsonline. no complaints. they have been in business for a while. if they were shady, they would not still be around.
i guess i just had a shitty experience with them. i even had a broken sensor when mine showed up. the way the packed my manifold and downpipe broke of a sensor too. you never know you could order one through them and not have a problem but since how my experience was with steve, i wont ever be using them again.

Ive used Hmotors more than a few times engines always were top notch. Ive used other importers with less than stellar results. Including high mileage engines with supposedly 30,000km on them but once put in and ran you find out the rings are bad and the car burns 3 quarts of oil a month. Ive also had leaky water pumps, a timing belt missing teeth, engines with over 40% leakdown, A ton of broken sensors, bad ECU's, the list goes on
Hmotors is on point, I bought a SOHC vtec zc from them that ran for a year at 260 whp before it even stretched the stock headbolts. Ive never had a problem with them, and would recommend them to anyone. I bought probably 10 engines from Hmotors all ran like a champ, And as far as I can tell the mileage estimates seemed accurate.

Hit and miss with them. Somebody just posted in the tech forum not too long ago about getting screwed over by them. However, a lot of it was his own fault. The company even offered to pay for the shipping back and the OP refused.
when i ordered mine the the day the were going to ship it they had to send it to a machine shop last second to get some broken bolts out, which i could have done at my machine shop, but the machine shop they went with had it for over 2 weeks then when it was finally supposed to be sent out with the rest of the shipment it got left at the warehouse and i was told it was on its way for a week while it sat there. then the private shipping company he used to get it to me took about 2 weeks to get out of cali. so finally after already waiting close to 2 months they sent me another one, which showed up on time but with a couple bad sensors and head gasket. im not saying thats how its always going to work out but that was just how my situation went. they wont be my first choice if i ever need to order another motor but if i absolutely had too, i might go through them again but thats only if i really cant find what im looking for.
