d15b2 all stock. brand new dizzy.

I recently cleared out a code 8, and fixed a jumpy idle by cleaning/bleeding the IACV.

However, as you can see in the video the idle is now steady but now my tach is all jumpy. (Didn't do this until AFTER the recent repairs.) Any ideas what I might have done?

Did you take out any fuses? Have you checked the speedo sensor to see if it is in place still? Mine was loose once and was coming out of the tranny and I had a similar issue. Another time it was a fuse a friend pulled out on accident, just don't remember which one.

No fuses removed, and my speedo sensor is the cable type. (which is secure.)

Loose tach wire. Its getting the signal phasing out to ground and then getting the signal again. Check the blue wire for the IGN Tach.

have you checked the wiring to/from the dizzy? if the signal is weak or broken it could cause this problem. GL

Possible bad igniter unit, assuming the blue wire tests fine.

When mine did that years ago, it ended up being the igniter.

Does it jump all over the place if you rev it a little?

Actually yes it does, if I quickly punch the gas a little it sort of 'sticks' then 'springs' up.

Considering the other problems I've had, this new dizzy must be defective after all. It was only $85 off egay.

I've been reading that richporter makes a good dizzy, they go for about $140 on egay, maybe worth a try?

I don't remember what I went with, but I think it may have been a Cardone, worked fine.

The Cardone units are $141 on Rockauto.com

Mine was doing that a month ago. Try taking off the distributor cap and looking at the ignitor one of the wires was hanging off and not connected which caused my jumping tach. Reconnected and problem was gone.. Hope this helps
