Default Please help me, need car for school

Hi, im 17 years old and i need help diagnosing my car's problem. It started to jerk hard in 1st and 2nd and pretty hard in the other gears. (Jerk as in, when you are in 1st gear at 1500-2000 rpm and let off the gas completely and get back on it). The feeling of being lunge forward and backward. I would put it in 1st and i get it moving without taking off my feet off the gas but it still does it. Could this be the clutch giving out because to get the car moving, i would have to let the clutch pedal go out pretty far before it catches. I tried searching but i dont know for sure what could be causing it, distributor? Clutch?

All Honda(90's) are like that with the clutch pedal. sounds like your cap and or dizzy rotor are worn out. have a look

A tach that jumps around is a symptom of a ICM going bad, or connection problems in the distributor.

MM&Y of car would help, image will be of a 94 RS...

Remove the cap, [#2] careful with the cap gasket, [#9] pull the rotor, [#3] by removing the set screw, [#11] then remove the leak cover, [#6].

You can now access all the terminal/plugs/connections to the ICM, [#8] and coil, [#12], make sure they are ALL clean, [no corrosion] and tight, if loose, unplug and "crimp" the terminal a little tighter and reconnect.

If there are signs of corrosion, [moisture] inside the cap or on any component in there, the cap gasket is NG and needs to be replaced. 94

If the ICM is bad/intermittent, so will the spark, bad/intermittent spark = misfiring = "jerking". 94

Don't just buy parts. do the testing to see if it's what you actually need...

Ok, today i was taking it for a drive to see if it was still jerking. It drove just fine so i drove it around for like 30 minutes and it was still fine. So my question is, should i replace the dizzy or maybe that wasnt the problem.

What you should do is inspect and test any part before blindly replacing it.

How do you test the distributor and its components? Visually inspect it?

Step 1:download your vehicle's service manual from my signature to a/your laptop. @1000pgs of your cars info/testing procedures/diagrams, etc. Step 2:find your distributor's specs/troubleshooting in the manual. If you can't download the pdf, go to your parts store and order a book for your car. It will greatly benefit you and you will learn quite a bit about your car just from one book. Good news is there's multiple publishers of these books.

Resistance check on the ignition coil would be a start. Visual inspection and cleaning of the cap and rotor wouldn't hurt. Just follow the instructions in the service manual.
