as the title says i am trying to start my crx LSV and i have 0 compression. I have spark and fuel but no compression at all.
B18a block
LS rod w/81,5 B18C5 pistons
B16 head
flat faced valves new valve seals and valve guides
GSR cams
skunk2 intake manifold
the motor has 0 miles everything was done to spec rings were gaped correctly. I literally have 0 compression across the board, and i am beyond stumped. Could my timing be off that much. I built oil pressure before i started it the motor turns over very easily. It will randomly fire on cylinder 3.
PCV was taken out and plugged. For catch can.
Anybody have any ideas as to WTF is going on? motor shot? bad timing? over looking something major?

Timing belt is off that much , or you have a valve to tight in every cylinder , or you have bent the valves. Probably had timing belt off just enough to bend the valves honestly.
timing that's the only thing I can think of. but off by that much ? you must not have been looking when you put the cams in. it sohouldnt bend the valves for just a few cranks. there was someone in the civic section who had a "no start" tunred out the mechanical timing was WAY off lol and the starter was just spinning the motor (with no comp) it sounded very odd
Believe it or not engines loose compression pretty often for no reason at all. Im a full time mechanic and we see it at our shop about once a year. Yes your timing might be way off so it needs to be double checked. But when we get cars in with no compression at all it can take either some serious cranking on the starter to get compression back in the cylinders or with manual cars you can tow them in gear and they will build compression. But you better be sure your timing is right or you can have serious problems. Check that timing then check it again.

I did...it was the first time i have ever done it so i may have not done it right. So i am going to re-do the valve lash timing.
As i already stated it only takes one valve in every cylinder to be to tight for it not to have compresion. I have actually seen people adjust there valves to zero lash because they said the sheet from skunk two gave its measurements at zero lash lol. Hopefully thats what it is and its a simple fix for you man.
