Integra Ls Manual Trans Question
Okaya, I know of the big difference between the DA and DC manual trans, as in one is a cable and one is a hydro, and the different FDR, but I see a lot of people refering to DC trans shifter cables in one article, and then in another, they refer to shifter linkage, as in the beam type shifter with a stablizer bar.
Total noob question I know, but so far I have only driven these cars as DD's, never wrenched on them. So, which is it? Does the integra use shifter cables or shifter linkage?
Reason I ask is I plan on doing a manual swap to my integra. I have done it in plenty of Mazda G series chassis and Mk3 VW chassis, and one maxima, so this wouldn't be my first rodeo. Dont know what made me finally decide to go for performance in a honda but please keep flaming to a min as to not make me change my mind

Right on, thank you. Now about those differences in the linkage between genterations, what might they be? I commonly see more 1st gens then I do 2nd gens so I might have to pick up their linkage and make it work. Anyone done this before??
I haven't dealt with it directly, but I think the length and angle are wrong. You might be able to make it work if you have time and a welder, or just keep an eye out for the one you need. Or get one from a dealer. Last thing you want is to buy the wrong one try to modify it and it not work then find yourself buying the right one in the end.

They bolt right in just like the DA one. I believe that the bend is slightly different, and I do believe I read that it may interfere with the stock heat shielding for the cat or something like that. Nothing that can't be easily modified to clear the stabilizer bar though.
I had a chance to nab an ITR shift linkage, but I couldn't get the bitch pin out. Next time I went back, the ******* took bolt cutters to the linkage....it had zero slop too....I took the shifter though. Poor mans short shifter right there. I don't know what it is about the shifter itself, but it gives it a WAY different feel. The shifter feels more like it's gated or something. It sort of "clicks" into the gears, rather than slides into gears. Once I buy a new shift linkage it'll feel 100x better too.

Even then, the issue of clearance isn't even worth mentioning. Honestly, I don't even know what shift linkage I have in my car. All I know is my 3in exhaust rubs the bottom of my shifter when I'm shifting between gears.
So here's an unrelated question what would cause a transmission to not have the separators between the gears, like if I put it in third, it can still move left to right.
I dont think thats an issure with your trans, I think that'd be an issure of bushings, if these cars use them. On My Gti and mx6 I could do the same thing, slop like mad, until I put poly bushings in. Pretty much gone after that.
