need help with aftermarket intake for carb smog
hey guys im new to cars, driving, and life on these forums i guess
bought an integra 95 4 door automatic special edition (i believe it has a b18b1 engine)
i need to find a stock or carb legal exhaust to pass california smog
will this fit? http://www.ebay.com/itm/97-acura-integra-LS-oem-stock-airbox-air-box-cleaner-intake-94-95-96-98-99-01-/230961796008?pt=Motors_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&fits=Make%3AAcura%7CModel%3AIntegra&hash=item35c66553a8&vxp=mtr#vi-ilComp
does anyone have any other suggestions....before i find the guy who sold me this car and strangle him?

Um that's the intake not the exhaust lol but that stock one will be fine as it came with the car. so will most AEM intakes and DC sports exhausts just look for that carb sticker
well i'm assuming if i go to my local auto shop and buy one of them they will be able to tell me? or i should see a sticker on them with n eo #?
sorry for all the pesty question im really clueless when it comes to this crap
also another question i had is will the AEM short air intake cause me to put out more emissions and could mess with that part of the test?
I want to buy a new AEM mostly for the convinience of not having to track down a descent stock intake
but if its just going to cause me more grief i'd rather just get a stock one

Shouldn't really mess with the sniffer portion of the test. And anything that's carb legal should have a number associated with it.
ok so i bought the aem intake, the hose that came with it is only like 2 inches long, i need it to be more like 2 feet long, i'm almost positive i bought the correct intake....what gives?
ok guys thanks for all the help, took my teg down to pep boys they said all i need to do is get some exhaust/pcv tubing , but i looks like i was correct it didn't come with the correct tube but it is the correct intake
its kinda of weird i've looked at a few pictures of the same intake i have on google images and some of them come with long tubes, some of them just come with exactly what i got
anyways here's a picture so you guys can get a better idea of what i'm talking about , you'll notice the distance from the air filter (which will be removed) to my intake pipe is a lot further than the 2 inches hose they gave me, i looked at a lot of pictures and it looks like a lot of cars have that 2 inch hose on there with another hose going into it and tied down with the clamps /shrugs
if anyone has any helpful information on this i should would appreciate it, the guys are pepboys are very nice but they're not exactly god's gift mechanics

that's not my aem intake on there by the way, i'm just showing you the pic so you can get an idea of what i'm talking about

you stated your car is a 1995-b18b1. judging by your valve cover your cylinder head is from a 96+ b18b1.
Have you failed smog? if so, was it for emissions or the visual inspection?
Your car has a functioning pcv system using the breather box on the block (check yellow marked hose to ensure connected). with the pcv valve on the valve cover being unused and also being basically rendered useless. buy a rubber vacuum plug from your local parts dealer and cap the hole.

inserting hose from where breather(blue filter) into new stock intake:
You are missing a connecting piece.

this can most likely be bought at honda. if not a junkyard or a nice H/T member.
if you can't find one, using hose clamps, clamp a piece of fuel line onto where the breather is. at the intake end, find a rigid piece of metal tubing the fits into the intake opening and clamp them together. clamping the fuel line from the valve cover to the metal tubing you inserted into the intake.
Hope this helps,
silky

hey i found a couple of pictures where it appears they've just taking an exhaust hose and clamped them onto each end, will this be sufficient?
sorry for all the nagging questions, but i am so utterly lost and clueless its sad, i'm probably going to have to shoot someone 20 just to install this stuff for me....pretty sad i know
basically i'm trying to make the process as simple as possible

there is a small metal tube that comes out of the intake pipe for hoses to clamp onto, i'm not sure if thats what you're reffering to when you say rigid metal tube silkyy
i appreciate your guy's help more than you can every imagine

ok just got done talking to a smog tech ....the verdict is in
i'm going to have to put back on the obd1 valve cover, because plugging that pvc is a modification and illegal in california
he said running a fuel line hose from the intake to the engine is ok

yep, if the intake you're going to use has a rigid tube out of it clamp on to that. if you are going back to the stock intake you will need a metal tube to insert into the intake, as the stock intake only has a rubber inlet.
