Default fan blade design ?

I have a full-race EF radiator (core 12x 14)
My first choice would be the spal 13"- 1750cfm fan but I tried and it won't fit (new for sale BTW)

Now I'm looking at alternatives. Below are my choices for PULLERS

Spal 10" fat flat 5 blade
http://www.the-fan-man.com/shop/size...fdb22d06620655

Spal 11" skinny flat 10 blade
http://www.the-fan-man.com/shop/size...fdb22d06620655

My question is:
1) how much amp does stock fan draw?
2) what is the blade design differnece between skinny flat 10 blade vs. fat flat 5 blade vs. curved 10-12 blades?
3) which would provide better cooling performance ? ( I test fitted both & fit fine)

Thanks - Charlie

OK 10" WAYYYYY to small will not pull nearly enough air to cool your car down properly. the 11 is to small too.

Go with a 12" if spakl doesnt have one get a Zirgo. I love my zirgo. i have a 12" on my car which is undersized IMO and it keeps the car right at 204 at the track. If i was able to squeeze a 14" on there i would but wont happen and it would stay below 200. I will be installing a second 12" on the front of my radiator (i have a full sized radiator from a VW scirocco) as a pusher to aid in keeping it cooler

2 blade seems to cool the best / flow the most cfm

1230 cfm and should fit on that radiator.

Sorry I cannot answer to any of your direct questions since I am on an accord platform. I am running a full length stock accord radiator with 10" pushers currently and it is fine but I want to change to something smaller to partially tuck the radiator to make some more room for larger turbine housing. Changing it out to an afco dual pass smaller setup soon and intended to run similar to the above based on the good results others have had with them on half size radiators.

Thanks. Last year i ran a mishimoto 10" fan (700cfm) but my FMIC completely covered entire grill space of bumper. In 80F I would have to keep the fan & heat blower on full blast in traffic or if moving less than 40mph. When I road race the car, I had the fan on all the damn time and it temps would climb past 1/2 way mark after 4-5 hard laps (15-20mins). I tried racing it with the hood off and there was zero issues (no heat blower or fan on).

Is the zirgo 12"x12?
...I was on their site & it didn't list outer diameter specs.
I would hate to buy it if it was larger than 12" and didn't fit.

Could you go measure the OD of the fan and PM me?

If I got that one, I would have end up trimming plastic shroud & blades because the LOWER water neck is bent upward.
If you look at the spec that fan it's 12.64 x 13.23
The FR radiator can only fit 12" tall fan..... 1/2" is too much to trim.

This year I have new FMIC & turbo setup which will allow air into the bay, but I'm just trying to get the right fan that will do the job.

Thanks for feed back.

I have a buddy who road races a LOT! His main issue is cooling. After tireless hours trying to figure out a duct system, he went with an electric water pump, and he never sees above 220 degrees now. Stock pump cavitate in the 6k-7.5k range.

Ah, makes sense. Did not see the actual outside measures added that much.

Can you fit a thicker model 11"?

http://www.the-fan-man.com/shop/size...fdb22d06620655

Just over 1300 cfm BUT is it 3.7" thick. Note the dimensional diagram does not show that model. http://www.spalusa.com/pdf/30102054_SPEC.PDF#view=FitH ... has the correct measures but you need to convert from mm to inch obviously. 11.8" x 12.4" x 3.7" basically.

i have the 10" fat blade one here... it's actually fits fine with no issues with clearence.
So the 11" fat blade one would fit fine.
now one of the questions i had is if I was going with 11" fan, which would be better?

keep in mind amp usage & cooling...

If you could fit the thicker higher volume unit I would go that route, especially if you are doing some kind of circuit racing. The increased amperage draw is not that much.

If you are worried about the amperage draw being to high... check your fuse in the fuse box for the cooling fan circuit to be sure. I believe it is 15 or 20 amp fuse on most Hondas (which is well under the max amp draw for that 1390 cfm fan).

Would an extra few amps of draw make that big of a difference? Higher amp alt would fix, but kinda spendy if you didn't need it.

My zirgo fan is 11.5" x 12"

Why so hung up on the current draw of the fan ? I was running a 14" which draws something like 30amps and a 12" at one point with a system in the car etc and never had an issue
