Icon2 85mm Copper O-ring Head Gasket

I need to bore my sleeved B18c block to 85mm and we want to copper Oring it to ensure head gasket seal. Can I run a standard MLS head gasket? Anything special required for copper Oring?

For a copper o-ring block you just use the standard OEM mls gasket.

To my knowledge the only time you need to do anything like a copper HG is when you do a stainless o-ring setup with a corresponding receiver groove in the head.

Someone correct me if I am wrong.

The catch is I need to run a thicker gasket to restore deck height which means Cometic. They say their MLS is not recommened for Orings. But then again neither is OEM. Both are viton coated MLS.

You'd rather peice two head gaskets together than run a Cometic? I ran a Cometic before at 450hp and had no problems. Of course that was a flat deck without Orings.

I believe that the Cometic gaskets have a fire ring on the bottom side which will interfere with an o ring. You may want to look at the underside of the cometic to see. If not you may end up with sealing issues.

Muck, I run a .065 cometic on the 85mm B16, nothing bad to report. Just toss it in, torque and re torque hot and thats it for me. Hope it helps something...

popwars123 the fire ring is a different type of gasket than the MLS.

Nice thanks Joe! Thats what I needed to hear.

Sorry to revive but did this turn out ok? Im in the same situation and right now my machine shop is telling me if they bore and hone the block (85mm) which Darton east sleeved and O-ringed for me there will only be .0015 left on the side wall of the sleeve? this has me concerned because this is a big boost application. I know people have done this and I just got off the phone with Darton they said if I dont like it I can send the block back and they'll replace the sleeves without O-rings.
