cant get da to start please help
ok here is the story bought 1991 da the car ran fine .i pulled the motor and fully built it new pistons rods ect. put motor back in and cant get it to turn over by the key if i jump the starter cylinoid it runs for about 3 seconds then shuts off.i checked all fuses checked the ignition switch got power coming in and out i need this thing to run please help also if i spray carb cleaner in the throttle body the car will stay running
do you have any voltage going to the starter solenoid when you try to start her? no crank no start? or cranks with no start.
and yeah i would double check and recheck all wires, harness, and ground.

Your not getting fuel, "also if i spray carb cleaner in the throttle body the car will stay running"
Turn ign. switch to the run, not all the way to start, and listen, do you hear the fuel pump running, [priming].
This is what should happen...
Turn ign. on, the cluster will light up, including the CEL.
At the same time there will be two clicks from under the dash, by hood release, [may sound like one as they are very close together, it is the PGM-FI Main Relay.
At the same time the fuel pump will start priming.
After no more the about 3 sec. there will be a 3rd click from the PGM-FI Main Relay.
At the same time the fuel pump will stop priming and the CEL will go out.
If all of the above is not happening, the first thing to check is the thermostat housing grounds, make sure they are good, [clean and tight].
If the grounds are good you will need to drop the PGM-FI Main Relay and do some testing, first look for three(3) powers
A 12V+ constant, [hot at all times]
A 121V+ switched, [hot when ign. switch is in the run and start positions].
A 2nd 12V+ switched, [hot when ign. switch is in the start position only].
Sorry I do not have the wiring diagram in front of me at the moment to give you wire colors, but they are not needed to find the powers.
If the powers are all there, check the ground, it will be black.
let me know what you find. 94

ok through the fuel pressure gauge on it and when the pump cycles on it has 45 psi and as soon as it cycles off psi drops to 0psi.i checked the main relay everything looks fine i tested the wires everything was fine except i didnt find one that was hot only in start position im losing fuel somewhere just cant figure it out

The fuel pump has a check valve, sounds like it is N/G.
Check for voltage at the injectors, [wire that is the same color at all four injectors] with ign. in run and start positions.
Check for ground pulse at the injectors, [wire that is a diff. color at each injector, you need a noid light for that or an LED type 12V test light or you can use a 194 bulb, straighten out the wire terminals and stick them into the injector plug and crank the engine.
The blue/white lead at the PGM-FI Main Relay is the hot in start only lead.
Fuse 18-7.5A in under dash fuse box, even if the fuse is good, check for power at the fuse when cranking to start, that power goes to the PGM-FI Main Relay and the ECU/ECM.
Check the black/yellow, [ign.1] and blue/white, [ign.2] at the ign. switch for powers when ign. switch is in both the run and start positions.94

injectors are fine i checked the blue/white lead at main relay and there is zero volts in on position and in start it jumps to 8 then immediately drop to zero as the car stalls.checked fuse 18 and the same exact results 0 volts on run and jumps to 8 on start then 0 as it stalls.i have 12 volts at both of those ignition wires in run and start
when i turn the key over to run sometimes the pump doesnt prime could there be a bad ground by the fuel pump or maby faulty fuel pump?when it does prime the car starts fine runs for about 3 seconds fuel gauge drops and stalls
Test the fuel pump power lead as you start the engine and see if it looses power when engine stalls.
If the fuel pump fails to prime sometimes, either there is a problem with the PGM-FI Main Relay, the fuel pump or related wiring, testing for power at the fuel pump power lead when engine stalls or when fuel pump fails to prime will tell you if it is the PGM-FI Main Relay or it's wiring, or if the problem is the fuel pump or it's wiring. 94
