Hey guys. Bought a b18b block a few months back and I'm trying to figure out the year of the block. Might be a silly question but I dont know the year of it and could use some help. The guy I bought it from had no idea... There is no head on it so I cant look at the VIN under the valve cover, above the headers...

 

there wouldn't be a vin under the valve cover anyway. a b18b obd2 would have the vin right above the oil pan on the exhaust side of the motor. a 94-95 would not have a vin.

 

okay well i just looked and didn't see anything so it must mean its either a 94 or 95.

 

 

that works....If the head hasn't been swapped

@kyden what about that number under the "b18b1" on the block stamp

 

94-95 b18b's also have the black pcv box on the back. 96+ won't have the hole machined out.

 

this would help if I was trying to figure out the year of the head... See thats the issue I bought the block bare, so thats why I'm trying to figure it out to see if I need to install the breather box on it or not...
