Default Trace the vin on the block....

I wanted to know if there was a way you can trace the vin on the block to find out if it was stolen. I bought a B18A block and just wanted to know if it was legit. Is there a way to trace it like carfax?

just get the vin number and goto the police station and tell them you want to run the vin number to the block you bought. if they cant do it for you right there they can at lease point you in the right way. you can also call them i think. you might also try calling the police in the area you bought the block from.

most police stations wont run the vin unless the engine is there in person, so if its stolen they can confiscate it.

True. Make sure you don't own it yet before you have it checked or you lose.

Yes, I tried calling the state patrol office and they said that I needed to bring the engine in before they would run the block number for me. They won't do it over the phone. So my question is, what if an engine turns out to be stolen? Are you in trouble for posessing stolen property? Or do they just take the engine and call it a day?

What if a person took that B18A out of there old integra and put in a B20/vtec. Then his car got stolen. Would that make that engine(B18A) show up as hot even if it was sold before that legit ? The b20/vtec engine would then be legal still?
