99 civic EX 5 speed - clutch/tranny problem
Lately I've noticed that my tranny has been making noise if I punch it around a turn. I have already replaced the clutch a few times I should not be bad. I sounds like its slipping. to day I was at a stop light waiting to make a right turn. I took off and then half way through the turn I step on it a little. and it made the noise again. keep in mind my car only has 80,000 miles on it now.
This really helps... a noise when turning could be a thousand things. What does it sound like? grinding? If you punch it around the corner its probably your tire screeching.
I know its not my tires because it sounds like its coming from the tranny. plus it sounds different than tires. ive only really noticed it in first gear. but I was browsing through the forum and Im starting the wonder if its the imput shaft bearings?????? any thoughts anyone before something horribly goes wrong with it cause its my daily.

Transmission bearings aren't going to only make noises when turning - they either make noise, or they don't.
OP, check your axles, as well as your wheel hub bearings.

Im starting to notice it and hear it now even when im on the gas or coasting in lower gears. like between 1st -3rd. I know its not a cv axle because its not clicking.
How hard are you driving this thing? At 80,000 miles it should be on the original clutch, even at double that mileage it should still be on the original clutch.
Let the clutch out in neutral, does it make noise? Does the noise go away with the clutch in?

How many times have u changed your clutch? It sounds like you don't really know to drive stick. If you changed you clutch more than once. It has to be your axles, especially on turns
ive replaced it more than once because when I put stage 3 clutch in I put new fly wheel and after three months of driving it a bolt came loose out of fly wheel and ruined the clutch disk which I found out after changing the slave and mater cylinders. I have A oem style clutch in it now with another new flywheel and new arp bolts.
When its out of gear or when I push in clutch the noise slowly goes away. like its slowing down. plus I know I need new bushings for my shifter.
Bad bearings in the trans, usually it's the input shaft bearing, sometimes it's one of the other bearings, sometimes it's more than one bearing.
It depends on which bearing(s) are bad, but if it's an input shaft bearing the bearing itself is about $20 and the seal is another $6 - $10, crush washers for the detent ***** are ~$3, and then add a tube of Hondabond and a few cans of brake clean on top of that.
