F23b P2A8 5th gear swapped in H23a T2T4
Ok so ive been digging for info on different trannies for awhile now. I believe the low gearing of the T2T4 would better suit my needs over the M2B4 trans for my build. In the long run I plan on going H2b, but thats later down the road. I dont want to get a usdm open diff trans and put new FD and aftermarket lsd in it. Would be a waste of money compared to getting a b-series trans.
So Ive found this thread, and this guy seemed to have swapped the 5th gear out which dropped him about 6-700 rpms at 60mph freeway cruising over what he originally was. The T2T4 has short gears and from my reading people sit between 3,5k-4K while @ 60 mph. I see the over all benefit from this swap being worth it in the long run. Both are accord tranns and both can mat to same engines.
Heres the thread I found vvv
https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-accord-1990-2002-2/f23-5th-gear-into-h23-transmission-2411948/
Now my questions;
-Has anyone else done this successfully?
-What kind of alteration need to be done to make work on T2T4?
-Can anybody help me find another thread or write up that explain how to swap out the gearing myself? I cant seem to find a detailed enough write up(s) to explain everything im looking for..
If it would be best to take to a professional to have done, remember this is a 40K mile fresh HMO trans Il have too!
- Other then the 5th gear itself, what other part(s) would you see me needing? Would I have to replace other parts while im in there? Like what to expect to replace. "Encase the trans shop says I need to replace parts I really shouldnt just to make a extra buck"...

I hope I have supplied enough information, thanks for reading. Any and all help appreciated! Obviously Im no tranny expert, Im asking for help not peoples flaming opinions.

You can install the Accord 5th gears as a set in the T2T4 but the countershaft 5th gear will need to be machined to the correct height. We have machined Accord 5th gears ready to install (I will PM you the price). You will not need any other parts other than a tube of Hondabond to seal the cases unless something else is worn. I suggest having a professional or at least someone with experience do the installation.
