good single cam build
I have a d16y7 with a y8 intake manifold in a 97 ek im parting out. my 98 ek is my daily with no motor. then i got a y7 head with a d16z6 block with z6 intake manifold. outta all these parts how can i combine these to make a good running single cam?
This is simple. Combine the D16Y7 block and the D16Y7 head with the D16Y8 intake manifold. You will have a good running single cam assuming your components are in good order, and you do it right.
Google provided a plethora of write ups on how to install the Y8 Intake manifold on to the Y7 head.

How did we go from "a good running single cam" to a "performance" D series motor? If you want performance then you are attempting to find it with the wrong motor.
