h22 with h23 manual tensioner? help
ok so I have a 97 h22a jdm and the hydrolic tensioner went bad and caused my timing belt to slowly slip off the cams... anyways my friend has a blown h23a vtec. so I took the manual on off it and now my h22 belt is to short... and his belt is snapped so I cant use his would a h23 non vtec work is this situation?
It's not too short. I know this because I have an H22 belt on my H23A VTEC with a manual tensioner. It's a VERY snug fit. Make sure the timing marks are lined up correctly.
That being said, you'll want to have the head looked at to see if you bent any valves before putting everything back together.

But like I said, it's a very tight fit.

The belt is probably just so snug that it appears it won't fit.
Keep working at it, sometimes the best way to do it is to get the belt set on all of the gears, and then bolt the tensioner pulley in place. If you do that, make sure the little tab on the back is seated on it's peg properly, very easy to get it off position and bend the back plate.

^ that too! After doing both methods I really like using the Kstuned unit! I know some people aren't sure about trusting it or not, but so far with my use of the KSTuned unit, I pick it any day!

theres one guy on the h series facebook page who reported his kept losing tension but thats the only negative I have heard. Mine has been installed for about 4000 miles without any trouble yet.
