Default B16a2 OBD2b swap into 93 Dx Coupe + OBD2 to OBD1 Alternator Mod!!!

I completely understand the bracket and mounts combo I need.
That is the 3 post bracket, dc2 t-bracket, and mounts like these:

I was wondering what would be the easiest yet most efficient way of wiring up the motor. Motor is a b16a2 obd2b going into a 93 Civic Dx coupe. The goal is to convert to OBD1 using a chipped p28 that I plan on sending to [http://www.j-k-tuning.com/ecu-chipping.php] because it seems to be the cheapest Ive found

I have the complete wiring harness from both the cars. the B16 is a complete and full swap.(alt, dist, compressor ect.)

Also, could I use by stock radiator, if so do I need to change hoses? part numbers? And are there other little tricks like that.

I do have this that I was going to use on a previous build [3rd item down] named: "OBD1 SOHC VTEC/Mini Me subharness " Could/Would I need to use this to wire up VTEC?
https://sites.google.com/site/hondapartshero/products

I have heard I might need this "Distributor Jumper Harness" : http://passwordjdm.com/PasswordJDM-D...P1881C320.aspx

^ But I am confused with that Item which is why I need to know if I MUST use it, which harness should I wire the motor up with (b16 or stock Dx harness) and how

If anyone recommends any additional parts or anything any info I'd greatly appreciate it because the threads I've tried to study seem to be hit or miss.

Thanks to everyone checking this thread out and maybe with the right info It actually be helpfully to others

the easiest for you would be to use an obd2 integra harness and wire accordingly, as obd2 distributor, injectors, alternator all have different plugs than obd1.

Couldn't he also swap to OBD1 distributor, injectors, and alternator?

Agreed, just trying to learn more though. I also assume he could use the OBD1 harness and rewire the connectors to obd2?

The cabin harness (which the ECU plugs are attached to) is still going to OBD1

Oh nice! I'd completely do that if I had the money to get another harness. I'm just broke and trying to get this to work mostly with the parts I've got. Great info though

Have any of you guys done or heard of either swapping the plugs of an alt, say soldering an obd2 plug onto an obd1 harness? Or swapping out the insides?

You can do either, it's been done numerous times before. Generally speaking I swap distributor and alternator guts so I don't have to splice anything.

Also note that in the case of the alternator you can only swap guts if they're the same brand.

Wow, really, Reading some of these comments.
Dont give yourself a head ache.

Just use the your stock harness thats in it now. The only thing you have to add is 3 wires for the vtec. You can make your own, using the wiring from the obd 2 harness or you can order it for maybe 30.00 now. It should be that cheap.

You may have to switch the Dizzy but if i remember correctly i just used the DX one. Two of the tabs will only bolt up. ( Not a big deal )

And you shouldnt have to switch injectors, the only diff. is the tabs in the harness. Just use a file or a pair of dikes.

The Trans mount will bolt up, The rear might.
The drivers side will not. ( if this obd2 engine is coming out of a CIVIC SI, the SI uses the circle mount.
Go on ebay and buy a 94-01 Integra drivers side engine mount and rear engine mount ( if the rear engine mount doesnt fit but it should)

Its been a long time since i had an EG swapped civic ( maybe 6 or 7 yrs )

Thanks!

Is it possible to swap the guts out if they go to different motors? What Im saying is, is it possible to swap the B16a2 obd2 dizzy guts into the D15b7 obd1 casing or shell?

Really appreciate the info!

Yes I have definitely gotten a few headaches from searching, but this thread is seeming informative!

So you're saying its possible to bolt the obd1 non-vtec dizzy i have on my D15b7 onto the B16a2 and it will work but not line up correctly?

Yes it is. I've done it numerous times. Make sure you mark the orientation of the 2 pronged distributor drive to the shaft before you take the distributors apart, you can get this 180° off. Swapping the guts will give an OBD1 B16 distributor and a '96 - '98 D16Y7/D16Y8 distributor.

I opted to go with a dizzy OBD2 -> OBD1 jumper harness.

But as for the alternators, how did you go about opening the OBD1 alt? Do you have to hit the bolt that is holding on the pully wheel with air and then it will be able to pull apart?

The OBD2 alt opened right up and i can see where you swap out the plug.

Thank so much for the help, its coming along!

Pics of the two alternators? They need to be the same brand, and the back will look the same if they are. Denso comes apart different than Mitsubishi.

After lookin at the label on the OBD1 alt super closely I noticed in fine print it did say mitsubishi, where as my OBD2 alt is Denso. This being said I guess im going to go with the Rywire OBD1-OBD2 alt jumper harness here:

http://www.rywire.com/catalog/obd0-o...pter-p-34.html

Heres a pic OBD2 on left. OBD1 on the Right:

You can order a Harness or order a voltage regulator for a '92 - '95 Integra from a starter and alternator shop, sometimes they aren't that expensive. As a rule Denso parts are readily available.

I can confirm that ANY obd2 integra engine harness will plug into ANY obd1 integra or civic, even the del sol. All he will need to do is either get a chipped ecu or find the original obd1 b16 ecu to plug into the cx. I think he might have to run xtra wires for knock and vtec on the shock tower harness. Can't remember.

I just called a local shop in the Virginia Beach area (Browning's Alternator Starter) and they quoted be $28.00 for a voltage regulator for a '92 - '95 Integra. Which is great compared to the $35

My only question is how is it guaranteed to either be a Denso voltage reg. or fit a Denso alt??

I'm pretty sure all the Integras came with a Denso alternator (I don't think I've ever seen a Mitsubishi B-series alternator)

Take the OBD2 denso regulator with you, the OBD1 version looks exactly the same other than the plug will be round.
