Default Sensible suspension?

I've recently bought a 93 Del Sol S and have been slowly putting it's bits back together. So now I'm currently thinking about suspension, which brings me to my question: What are a sensible set of springs and struts/shocks? And by sensible I mean good quality at a good price and to give you a perspective on what I consider "good price" I will Let you know that I'm in my early 20's I live on my own pay all of my own bills and work a horrid job.

Alright so far I have found a set of 4 Who knows what brand OEM shocks for $109 and a set of 4 Skunk2 lowering springs to go with them, which are $165 I believe? Both off Ebay I might add. I've noticed there aren't very many How To videos on Del Sol's so I think I will have to record my progression on my Honda, but who knows.

Don't use lowering springs with OEM style shocks ! you'll blow them. That's what happens with all those kids with "cut springs". How to is very easy virtualy the same across all 92-00 civic/del sol(tegs to afaik). KYB AGX's are a decent budget shock(imo) that can handle about a 1.75'' drop. that's what im running on my teg with H&R Springs. avoid ebay brand stuff all-togther.

I guess sensible meant "cheap".
Might as well leave the stock suspension on.

Thanks b-swapped I thought that might be the case, and I would leave the stock suspension if it wasn't completely shot. On level ground it leans to the drivers side quite a bit.

Then get OEM replacements.

I've thought about that as well, but for the price of OEM springs I'd rather spend a little more and get something better :/

The suspension on a Del Sol is the same as a '92-95 Civic. If you want a cheap setup, get some new shocks and lowering coils. However, this will be around the $500 range so I would get a coilover set instead. My suggestion is Progress. I had a set on my '00 Civic coupe and I couldn't be happier. There is forum member that works for Progress. Check out the sponsor classified section.

Springs don't wear out. If they're damaged, then find undamaged replacements at a junkyard. Change out the spring isolators while you're in there too.

OEM equivalent shocks are dirt cheap and readily available.

And as far as "bang for the buck" goes, stock springs are the clear winner. There is nothing better for the same price.

Tokico blues are good comfy ride. With any decent coilover sleeve kit.

Blues are an OEM replacement shock not suitable for ridiculous lowering.

koni yelows and eibach are good cheap setup. If you want cheap coilovers then might as well quit now.

cheap and quality seldom come in same package.

It's a Del Sol. Like the Civic is it based off of, it always has coilovers. It came from the factory with coilovers.

Buy coil springs (lowering or not, adjustable height perch or not), install them over the shocks, and they are now coilovers.

Haha yeah I've decided my budget limits me to stock, I will be buying the shocks this Friday if all goes well, next up is the clutch flywheel kit.

Why waste money on an aftermarket flywheel? Just re-surface the stock one.

I was thinking I should, but convinience won over and I saw the whole kit for a workable price. How much would that run? And too it would suck if I got the kit without the flywheel to find out that the stock one is shot and unusable, and that would be down time on my dailydriver.
