Default 94 civic bseries axle help

Im in the middle of swapping out my axles. I purchased from Marty at raxles, great product. I had taken everything apart a few weeks before and just got around to doing the swap. Im just having a little trouble with my halfshaft. I removed it and everything but upon reinstalling it seemed a bit off. a bit of polished metal is now exposed, like its not completely in but i know it is. All the bolts line up and everything. Since i had removed everything my crappy memory has failed me and i cannot seem to remember if anything was there. It looks like something should cover it up though. If anyone know what im missing there if anything at all it would help a lot.

Here's how it looks.

Does the shaft have a lot of play back and fourth?

there's supposed to be a metal cover that goes on the halfshaft.

Looks like an axle seal is missing to me, but I never took my half shaft out

i believe i know the metal piece your talking about. I'm unsure if i even had one on. Anyone know if it'd be safe to run it without one?

should be a seal to cover it, imho as long as you don't have play and it's bolted down properly and aligned you'll be alright. worst case it leaks on you

Put it all together and it leaks... I ordered part number 91205-PC9-711 but it only fit right on the passenger side. Anyone know the correct bumber for the driver side and where I can get the cover for the half shaft?

The axle seal is pressed in that bore to far...

By 1/4 inch or more, it should be almost flush with the trans outer casing, and I'm sure it is not placed on the correct sealing surface (journal) of the halfshaft

So I should just take it apart and pull it out a little and see if it leaks? Dont need the plate/seal thats goes onto the half shaft?

apparently you do since the half shaft uses that plate as a seal as well

No it does not, it is simply a guard to deflect large objects from entering and damaging that seal area.

you should just pull both axles, remove both axle seals, replace them with new ones correctly, stab the axles, and refill with Honda MTF.
Done dinner.

I did the passenger side right. Replaced seal and it doesnt leak but I ordered wrong part for the clutch housing side. When I install the new one I dont push it in so far? Just so its a little more flush with that tranny casing.
