Thermostat real temperature for EX
Hi everybody,
Today I wanted to check my thermostat out of the car and when I took it out I found out its a 78c ~ 172.4F. I check the hayness manual and it says it should have a 195f one.
Would this themostat hurt something?
MPG?
Power?
I know the ECU regulates fuel delivery upon coolant temperature. I wonder its running in a kind of loop mode since it never reaches the real temp.
Thanks!

How do you figure the engine never reaches operating temp? All it means is that the thermostat opens sooner. It doesn't stop the engine from getting any hotter.
It looks like the thermostat that is in these cars stock is around 172 degrees. The haynes manual is not a reliable source of information. I would get a honda replacement if it does not open in water at 172 degrees. The aftermarket parts stores are rarely a reliable source of information either!
I have had zero trouble out of the cooling systems in both of my old Hondas, I would stick with genuine Honda components wherever possible. No sense upsetting a system that works as well as these do.
