How do i set EK manual trunk to automatically lock
I just put a system in my 98 EK Civic Cx. My trunk is a manual lock/unlock and alot of times I forget to lock it. I just want my trunk to auto lock like the other cars trunk do cuz I know it will bite me in the *** one day.
Is there anyway I can set my trunk to lock automatically without me having to physically lock it every single friggin time. If not, any mods??

Yes, wire a power lock actuator to the locking mechanism.
Much like installing power locks onto the doors. Just have to run wiring back there.
I had a 97 civic, and I needed the key to open the trunk every time. I'm not positive about the 98 hatchback, do you have a key only opening hatch or is there a handle you pull? For some reason I want to say the 98 got the updated hatch like the 99 and 00 have.
Maybe it's just been too long of a day.

And no its not broken, I can lock it. There's a handle I pull and it acts EXACTLY like a regular car door. I want my trunk to act like a trunk.
Keep in mind this is a CX. This car is manual steering, trans, windows, locks, everything. Im actually quite surprised it has AC

I have the same hatch design. The only solution is really for you to install a power lock actuator and wire it in with your keyless entry/alarm.

Well what about regular trunks, and just about every other car ever made? There's nothing power about the trunks. Its just a mechanical mechanism that only opens by key.
Is the Dx and every other Civic Hatch the same way? When I was 16, I had a 84 Civic Hatch and I could swear it being a regular trunk. It def wasnt power locks/windows or anything. Just a key and no handle.

What am I missing here? I have a 97 hatch. From the outside the key is needed to open the hatch but locks when you close it. Same with the 96 Coupe. From the inside they both have the release mechanism to open them.
Are we saying that the years after that the trunks on these things does not lock when you close them?

In 98 they switched to a different trunk through 99 and 00. It has a handle like a door handle to open, and to lock it you must lock it with the key manually or there is a vertical pin that can be pressed or pulled from inside.

^^^
Glad we're in agreement here....is even more dumb than I thought! Its right up there with the cabin air filter-less ac system.
Libertariat, you're saying its a diff trunk and the 96-97 trunk latch isn't plug and play with my 98 cx?

Yeah and from what I recall - the 96-97 trunk hatch is not plug n play with the 98-00? Though this is just from a vague memory ... highly recommend searching before taking my word for it, considering I don't even own a 6G Civic and am no expert.

Re: How do i set EK manual trunk to automatically lock
That sounds right ... later 98-00 year ones had no provision for the interior remote release?
So, any trunk retrofit would also have to include this functionality also.
OP should really consider an alarm with remote locks on the doors and trunk instead of just a trunk retrofit. Security = Win.
