D16Z6 Dizzy issues/ NEED HELP
NEED HELP93 del sol si/ d16z6, original motor...recently its been bogging and sometimes, having a hard time starting. after multiple times of trying to start it, it eventually fires up and starts, and drives fine, excepting sometimes bogging. these issues have been going on for bout a yr. now, ive been starting it and driving it like this eversince. clutch engages, starter is fine, fuel pump is fine, battery is fine, spark plugs/ wires are fairly new, changed out main relay. i started it up bout 2 weeks ago, again, after mulitiple times of cranking it, and drove it around just for a warm up due to storing it during the winter here. just couple days ago and now, it doesnt start at all. normally when it doesnt start, i let off the key for a minute or 2 and keep trying and it will start..but now its completely not turning over, you can here the clutch engaging and starter spinning, radio and all lights working properly, engine just not turning over...friends tell me it could possibly be the coil ignition/ distirbutor, or maybe clutch not engaging properly, and possibly re-bleeding the clutch...CAN THIS BE MY DISTRIBUTOR?
THANKS!
THANKS!
if the starter is not turning over at all or just clicking.. you have a poor engine ground. clean all the motor grounds to the chassis with sand paper or wire wheel and put it back on and see what you got then.
You said you here the starter spinning but the engine is not turning over. That would indicate a starter issue. But lets make sure we are all using the same terms.
"turning over" simply means the engine is spinning, pulleys turning, belts moving.
then it progresses to starting and finally running.
When a starter spins but the engine does not turn over one of several conditions exists
1) the starter gear is not moving and engaging the ring gear on the flywheel
2) the clutch inside the starter gear ( not the one actuated by the clutch pedal) is failing and the starter shaft is spinning inside the starter gear
3) the teeth are worn off the ring gear and the starter can't engage.
Also a clutch is disengaged during starting. When you press the clutch pedal you disengage the clutch. Releasing the clutch pedal engages the clutch.

Have you changed the cap and rotor? Fuel filter, pcv valve? How many miles on the car?
You can pull the starter and take it to autozone or such and have it tested for free. Although you said it boggs so I don't think it's the starter.

engine does not start at all, pulleys not spinning what so ever. 1st, step on clutch, key in ignition, 1st 2nd click 3rd click for ignition, hear no noise at all, just hear the starter spinning, pulleys not spininning, seems like theres no spark to ignite the engine....cant be spark plugs cuz before, if i got lucky and happen to start it up, ive pull the plugs out while engine is on, and motor is still running meaning spark plugs r in fair shape..motor has 165xxx miles, still runs strong, vtec still strong...ive havent replaced anything on the dizzy yet, i thought it was fuel pump and regulator and so i replaced that, bought new spark plugs/ wires bout 1 yr ago....

Until the engine starts turning the distributor can't send spark to the plugs. if you are hearing the starter spin but nothing is moving the problem is in the starter not the dizzy.
yea you can hear the starter spinning only, not clicking...you know how when you have low battery, the starter will click...well im not hearing that, you'll only hear it spinning, when i turn the key to start...maybe ill check out the starter, get it checked at auto zone...thanks
